Final Approval

In the world of portrait photography, there is always the hurdle of client approval. My taste I admit is, for, some people, a little off. “It’s the anomalies you love”, my friend, Kay, said, “not the conventional.” Today I shot a Scottie, an unbiased, mature soul. So, I asked him, “Hey, Bodë, which shot do you like? How much would you like me to retouch?”

I showed him the conventional shot:

As you can see, he agreed.

But then, when I showed him a soulful shot, full of psychological drama, the true angst of being a Scottie, he perked up. He knew that he’d been understood. Finally, I had a subject who was complicit! “No retouch,” he implied. “I just want to be ME!”
